The Author's Journey. It's a big and grand path that most think of as starting with an idea and ending with a tale printed in a book. But it's more than just the story. More than just the words that find their way onto the page. The idea is not always where it starts, and the book is not always where it ends.
Look, when considering a book, thinking of the words on the page may be enough. For the author, though, there's a long and winding road from thought to prose sometimes. Sometimes that road intersects through other media before it ends up as words; some music or pictures or conversation that helps find the meaning to what we imagine. There are known stops along that road - stages of creation we can all recognize - such as the manuscript stage or the editing stage or the feedback stage. Yet every author's road is different and runs across these intersections and stops at different times or in different orders. That's a story in and of itself, is it not?
That in-between is what we're all about. We're fixated on the whole package. The detail. How one word choice helps tell the tale in a given scene or how music adds what words can't when a player has to choose what button to press or even which colors are used in the presentation of a flashback. All these things are part of telling the story.
We are more than just writers. We are people on a journey. And we want to use some space here to explore it. Whether rambling about details in our own stories, providing blather on tools to use along the way, or looking into the makings of other regarded tales.
So... Thanks for joining us. We are Grinning Cat Studio - and we're storytellers.
